3. MultiUse Pad at the park!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Earl Baker Park Recreation Fund is a group of volunteers that raises funds for Earl Baker Park in Morrisburg. Currently the group is raising funds for a multi-purpose slab which will be used for multiple different types of recreation throughout the year. The Multi-use Pad will “Bring our Community Together One Game at a Time” at this local recreation hub where everyone can take part in recreational leagues, tournaments and pickup games.

The group continues to fundraise through hosting special events themed around local recreation opportunities like the New Years "Game on Celebration" and a pancake breakfast at the Great Williamsburg Egg Hunt. The group has also applied for an been provided grants and donations from private recreation organizations.

Our plan is to reach $200,000 by 2027! So far, since its inception (New Years Event) we have raised $20,000. We are the lucky recipients of hosting the Boli golf tournament this year in Morrisburg which has grown to also include the Women's first ever Boli.

ESTIMATED COST: $200,000

BENEFIT TO THE COMMUNITY:

The Multi- Use pad is a cement slab with boards surrounding it similar to an outdoor rink. The slab itself can be used by all residents in South Dundas for basketball, pickelball, hockey, skating, rollerblading, and much more. The overall objective of the multi-use pad is to foster connection, engagement, and unforgettable experiences for generations to com. The multi-use pad will be compliant with AODA standards so everyone can enjoy the space.

This volunteer run group works together to try and raise funds to help the municipality ensure that there are ample opportunities in the Community for Free recreation- an important factor in a healthy growing community. All members donate their time, resources, and often their own money towards fundraising events and donatable items.
